Being that wedding season is upon us, I thought that I would share a few tips with brides when choosing a makeup artist for the “Big Day”.
There are so many “makeup artists” around, so you have to be very selective when it comes to choosing a MUA for your wedding. Now that social media has become the place for everyone to advertise their services, take the time to research and look at the potential MUA’s body of work. Nowadays, all reputable and creditable MUAs are on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and so on…
Look at their work, determine who would be the best fit for your needs. Once you have narrowed your search, contact them to see what their rates are and schedule a bridal trial. A Bridal Trial is a test session where the MUA get to showcase their talent with you. Bridal Trials, mind you, are not Free and no one should assume that they are. I highly suggest a trial run, but if you are totally comfortable and familiar with the MUAs work, then you do omit the trial run.
I suggest bridal trials, because they give you an idea as to what to expect from your MUA and you get a peek into how you are going to look on your wedding day. Too, this gives you a chance to perfect your look with your MUA. And too, I feel like the trial session gives you a chance to see if you vibe with the MUA, you do not want to feel uncomfortable with your MUA.
I would suggest making a selection and booking your MUA at least 3-6 months prior to your wedding day, this gives the MUA ample time to prepare, especially if you have a larger bridal party.
